School Success Initiative

WHA is one of a select group of New York City public schools chosen to participate in the New York Care School Success Initiative, which is designed to enrich students' learning experiences and to expand adult education programming for families.

Through this program, New York Cares provides vital resources, including volunteer support and project supplies, at no cost to our school. Each year, the School Success Initiative offers our students and families a variety of special programs, including Field Trips, Sports & Recreation, and projects that support Literacy, Science, Technology and the Arts.

In addition, New York Cares volunteers provide the following activities as part of our weekly Saturday Academy:

Children’s Recreation (WHA Students)

Arts & Crafts • Cooking • Mad Scientists! • Robotics • Sports

Adult Education (WHA Parents & Guardians)

English Conversation • U.S. Citizenship • Computer Basics
